Our first day touring was actually a half day visit to the near by winery and vineyard Sentidos (senses in Portuguese). We are met by Charlotte Toubro, co-owners who with her husband Beat Budmann, resurrected and developed the property. Charlotte is from Denmark and Beat is from Switzerland and during a holiday discovered and purchased the property. They replanted the vineyard, and rescued the olive tree, planted a large variety of other fruit baring trees, built their home and the winery and went into production. It is a gorgeous property now and they produce world class wines and extra virgin olive oil.

Charlotte, first took us for a tour of the gardens and vineyard, then the winery, where we meet Beat and their wine maker, David Corticeiro. After the tour we enjoy tasting some of their wine which is very good. One thing we learn is in Portugal they produce a lot blends as well as single varietals. Sentidos grows two whites and four reds so they produce both single and blend wines.

After the tour we enjoy tasting Sentidos wines in the tasting room. This is a very nice way to start our visit to Portugal.
