We met Jorge (George) our guide for the two days in Lisbon for our half day highlight tour of the city. George turns out to be an outstanding guide, having his masters in history and full of both information and enthusiasm.

We start with a panoramic view of the city and learn about its interesting history. We then visit the center of the city with several important monuments and the place where the Inquisition, persecution of Jews and Arabs began in Portugal. The Cathedral of Lisbon is next, then to the harbor to view the Monument to the Navigators. Next is the church/monastery where Manuel the first, also called Manual the Fortunate is buried and finally we walk next door to have one of the famous Pastry’s of Belem, invented by monks in 1837, with over 20,000 sold daily.

After a full day of touring and a little rest, we walk to what turns out to be one of our favorite dining experiences in Portugal, the restaurant JNcQuoi Asia. This Asian establishment combines unique ambiance, excellent services and extraordinary Chines food into a very special experience. A nice was way to cap off a very full day.
