Oxford and Cotswold
Our driver Janet picked us up at the Brown’s Hotel, which we were sad to leave behind, it is truly special. As London fades behind we head for the Cotswold region, with its beautiful countryside, with sweeping meadows, rolling hills and honey colored towns. We stop for lunch at a riverside restaurant, The Swan, then mosey on with a stop at Oxford which is on the Thames. The alumni include the famous and infamous, including our own Bill Clinton, who left his mark as usual this time a sign rather than a stain.

We explore the village which is named for the University.

Thursday is dedicated to cultural enrichment including a tour of Shakespeare’s family home in Stratford-upon-Avon. Although the Bard spent the majority of his professional life in London, this was his home base where he returned to live with his wife and family. First, we do a little site seeing/shopping in the quaint village of Broadway:

Shakespeare’s family home is next on our tour:

William Shakespeare

The tour of the family home:

Monument to the Bard

To complete our cultural day we have dinner at the Royal Shakespeare Theater then experience a performance of the ballet, Romeo and Juliet, which is brilliant. A good nights sleep and tomorrow the Poldark filming location private tour, the piece de resistance of the trip.
